The Joy of the Gospel - Pope Francis

Small yet strong in the love of God, like Saint Francis of Assisi, all of us, as Christians, are called to watch over and protect the fragile world in which we live, and all its peoples.

I prefer a Church which is bruised, hurting and dirty because it has been out on the streets, rather than a Church which is unhealthy from being confined and from clinging to its own security.

Pope Francis, or as he simply calls himself, Francis Bishop of Rome, has issued an "Apostolic Exhortation" to everyone. It's Latin title is "Evangelii Gaudium" which are the words of its opening line:  "The joy of the Gospel ..."

An "Apostolic Exhortation" is like an encouraging conversation, encouraging people – something like a coach's talk at quarter/half time.

 Some headlines in the media:

· "Francis publishes vision for more compassionate, decentralised Church"
· "Pope Francis calls for power to be taken away from Vatican"
· "Pope Sets Down Goals for an Inclusive Church, Reaching Out 'on the Streets'"
· "Pope Francis calls for power to move away from Vatican"

The official document can be found on the Vatcan Wedsite: Evangelii Gaudium

Or you can download the document here: Evangelii Gaudium.pdf

However it is rather long but there are some short reliable articles on the Apostolic Exhortation.
